Creative Minds International Public Charter School (CMIPCS) is a tuition-free school located in NW Washington, DC authorized to serve students from preschool through 8th grade. Now in its sixth year of operation, CMIPCS serves over 500 students in Preschool (3-year-olds) through 8th grade.

Position Overview

The Academic Coordinator is a member of the school leadership team. This role supports the Lower School Director and Middle School Director with administrative tasks related to providing instructional and organizational leadership, such as organizing meetings, setting up professional development sessions, coaching teachers, supporting with student schedules, and coordinating field trips. The role serves as the School’s advocate and works with all stakeholders to create a common vision for the school that best positions CMI for success. The Academic Coordinator also works with other leadership team members, such as the Executive Director and the Chief Operating Officer to execute school improvement plans and allocate resources to continually improve student achievement.

Responsibilities

  • Drives instructional excellence. Assists with data and classroom organization needs such as schedule building, classroom assignments, testing procedures, and instructional technology readiness. Participates in coaching, supervision and evaluation of professional and classified personnel. Builds an environment that fosters collaboration and continuous improvement. Serves as school’s advocate and regularly communicates with all stakeholders. Conducts routine administrative duties as assigned by the Directors. Enforces attendance rules. Meets with parents to discuss student behavioral or learning problems as needed. Respond to disciplinary issues if needed with support from the Behavior Coach. Coordinates use of school facilities for day-to-day activities and special events. Works with teachers to develop curriculum standards. Orders equipment and supplies. Maintains systems for attendance, performance, planning and other reports. Supervises teacher responsibilities such as drop-off, lunch, and recess monitoring. Walks the hallways and checks in on teachers and classrooms. Responds to emails from teachers, parents and community members.

 

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Education preferred.
  • Minimum of five years experience as a teacher or administrator.
