NOTICE OF POSITION

POSITION :

The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kriner Cash, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:

SUPERVISOR OF STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES (Social Emotional & Wellness Supports)

QUALIFICATIONS :

Candidates must hold a Bachelor's and Master's degree, and a New York State School District Administrator (SDA), New York State School Supervisor (SAS), School District Leader (SDL), or School Building Leader (SBL) Certificate. The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of local, state and federal laws and guidance on NYS School Health and demonstrate knowledge of the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child model. Three years of approved and appropriate experience in a pupil personnel services tenure area preferred. with experience in social emotional learning and wellness and experience with project and grant management are encouraged to apply.

DUTIES :

The Buffalo Public Schools (BPS) New Education Bargain with Student and Parents focuses on providing students and parents with a pathway to opportunity that will lead to achievement and success. Services for our Neediest Children and Families serves as one of the focus areas of the district in executing its commitment to students and parents. Under the direction of the Director of Social Emotional and Wellness Supports the Supervisor will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

  • Assisting in the development, coordination and administration of student support programs designed to address the needs of the district's neediest children and parents
  • Assisting in the development, coordination and administration of Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child related projects.
  • Works with District staff and community partners to design and implement staff development, parent capacity building and student empowerment programs.
  • Overseeing the district's pregnant and parenting teen program
  • Providing leadership to the District's Wellness Policy and management of Health and Wellness grants.
  • Developing short and long term goals and initiatives to increase the district's services to students enrolled in these programs.
  • Gathering, validating, analyzing, and disseminating various types of student support data.
  • Serving as a support and consultant to parents, schools, community stakeholders in the area of student social, emotional, and wellness.
  • Providing training to student support staff members (i.e. teachers, school counselors, student support teams, community education leaders, school staff and administrators, parents, students, and community based organizations.
  • Other duties deemed necessary by the Director of Social Emotional and Wellness Supports for the successful operation of the department.


APPOINTMENT :

Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be conducted where appropriate.
