Job Description:

Design Thinking Academy seeks an experienced and highly effective visual art and design teacher with a broad range of creative skill sets including both traditional and digital approaches to art making. Bachelor's in Fine Arts/Design or Art Education Design required, Master's Degree in Fine Arts/Design and/or Art Education preferred. Delaware Teaching License preferred but ARTC (Alternate Route to Certification) candidates acceptable.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and collaborative colleague who understands the value of teacher leadership both within and outside of the school. We are seeking a talented, self-motivated and highly organized individual to lead our newly established Art & Design Pathway program to the next level of excellence. As a school specializing in Design Thinking, we expect a creative and dynamic thinker who will approach teaching, and learning with enthusiasm and a willingness to experiment, revise, improvise and develop for endless refinement and continued excellence. Strong drawing, two dimensional design, and digital media skills are a must. The ideal candidate will be able to connect with students who have a range of backgrounds and abilities in art and design, while also successfully scaffolding and adapting teaching for students seriously considering art for college and career. The successful candidate will also oversee the production of our school's yearbook.

Design Thinking Academy is part of the XQ Superschool Project.

Graduates of Design Thinking Academy will develop a solid foundation in fundamental literacies necessary to succeed in college, career and in life. Students will activate and harness the power of their creative and critical capacities, develop agile and imaginative thinking, and clarify their sense of personal purpose.
