    GENERAL STATEMENT
    Dolan DASH is funded through the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant. The program will create partnerships between the district and local resources with an emphasis on student-interest based enrichment and increasing family involvement. There is an integrated focus on academics, health and social services, youth and community development, and community engagement for improved student learning. Dolan DASH will provide students with special interest activities, literacy, and academic enrichment at Dolan Middle School. Families will be engaged in activities that promote parental involvement at evening, Friday and Saturday workshops. The program will extend the school day and week by providing programs during the week and various Saturdays at Dolan Middle School. There is some flexibility in scheduling classes on Monday through Thursday as classes are not required to meet each day.

    Dolan DASH Teachers may be employed to teach in a variety of classes which range from academic enrichment to student-interest based enrichment classes. Certified teachers who possess the ability to integrate social emotional learning with academic support are encouraged to apply, as well as teachers who possess the ability to teach specialized classes such as (photography, music, cooking, or a club) and participate in professional development activities.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Align and adjust classroom strategies and activities to academic Standards.
    • Incorporate study and social emotional learning into after-school programs that may be based on student interest and passion.
    • Complete all data and information related to grant guidelines, i.e. surveys and attendance information.
    • Plan and create differentiated lessons to address individual student learning styles.
    • Facilitate successful learning experiences for the targeted groups of students.
    • Create a safe and welcoming environment so all students can interact and learn.
    • Provide information to the students' regular school classes regarding their work in the after school program.
    • Provide Project Manager with information for regular communication with families.
    • Perform other duties as requested by the Project Manager under the guidelines of the current teachers' contract.
    QUALIFICATIONS
    • Connecticut Educator Certificate.
    • Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
    • Passionate about working with students.
    • Demonstrated expertise with current district curriculum initiatives.
    • Demonstrated capacity to work cooperatively with others.
    • Demonstrated experience matching teaching and learning strategies.
    • Demonstrated ability to integrate reading and writing within academic subject areas.
    • Demonstrate ability to differentiate instruction.
    TERM
    September through June, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, and various Fridays and Saturdays. There is some flexibility in hours and days as classes are not required to meet each day. Schedule may require additional hours per week for grants related data and staff meetings while program is in session.

    SALARY
    As per contract:
    • Compensation for working directly with students & families: $44.05 per hour.
    • Compensation for duties not involving students & families: $37.76 per hour.
