JOB DESCRIPTION
Upward Bound Teachers/Instructors
General Statement
The Upward Bound Program serves 65 ninth through twelfth grade students who are low-income and/or potential first generation college students. The program seeks to promote collegiate preparedness by strengthening students' academic and social-emotional skills necessary for success in high school and beyond. The Upward Bound Teacher will work with the Upward Bound Project Director and Advisor to support these goals, by providing instruction and enrichment for Upward Bound's Saturday Academy.
Responsibilities

Classes take place 2 times per month on Saturday mornings (9:00 am – 12:30 pm). Teachers are responsible for tracking and reporting students' progress. Teachers develop their own classroom content/curriculum. We are especially looking for teachers of: Math, Science, Technology, English (Grammar & Composition, etc.), Foreign Language and History. In your cover letter, please indicate what areas you can teach in. We are interested in elective options as well - if you have a unique idea for a 5-session course you think would be interesting and beneficial for high school students, please provide us with a blurb about your proposed course. We seek teachers who can engage high school students in study and intellectual thought, and make classes on Saturday fun!
