BASIC FUNCTION: Plan, coordinate, and inspect the work of Field Supervisors and other custodial employees performing a variety of diversified custodial duties to ensure compliance with District cleaning and safety standards.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: (Incumbents may perform any combination of the essential functions shown below. This position description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, knowledge, or abilities associated with this classification, but is intended to reflect the principal job elements accurately.)
E = Essential Functions
Review and measure the quantity and quality of custodial work of assigned staff; conduct inspections. E
Implement in-house training programs for custodial employees developed in coordination with the Director. E
Assist Director in selection of new materials, equipment, solutions, and devices for testing utilized in cleaning activities. E
Assist Director to ensure timely delivery of required equipment and materials to all District facilities. E
Assist Director to seek and implement innovative solutions to challenges arising from fluctuating levels of funding and personnel staffing, emerging technologies, and changing customer requirements. E
Assist Director in identifying potential problems or opportunities for improvement. E
Oversee the preparation of required field supervisor reports and maintaining appropriate records. E
Assist Director with customer satisfaction evaluations to identify concerns and opportunities for service improvement to ensure excellence of custodial services. E
Ensure adherence to good safety procedures. E
Coordinate, supervise, and evaluate the performance and duties of field supervisors and other assigned staff. E
Attend and participate in required District meetings. E
Perform related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
TRAINING, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of education, training and/or experience equivalent to: an associate of art's degree and three years of increasingly responsible experience in custodial work including multi-level supervisory experience.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid California Driver's License
Employment eligibility will include fingerprints, tuberculosis and/or other employment clearance

KNOWLEDGE OF:
Applicable federal, state, and District codes, regulations, policies and procedures governing workscope
Methods to interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures related to workscope
Procedural guidelines of Departmental Cleaning Standards
Safe methods for using equipment and materials governing workscope
Technical aspects of field of specialty
Principles and practices of effective leadership
Principles and practices of supervision and evaluation
Computer software, hardware, and related technology
ABILITY TO:
Interpret, implement, and maintain current knowledge of applicable laws, codes, policies, procedures, and District regulations governing workscope
Communicate effectively in English orally and in writing
Understand and follow oral and written directions
Plan, organize, and coordinate needs for assigned program
Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports
Analyze situations accurately and adopt effective course of action
Plan and organize work to meet internal and customer established timelines and deadlines
Model effective communication skills using tact, patience, and courtesy to understand and respond to the needs and expectations of team members and customers
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others of diverse backgrounds, experience, and personalities Meet District standards of professional conduct as outlined in Board Policy
Supervise, coach, and evaluate assigned personnel
Operate personal computer, related software, and other office equipment
Cross-train department personnel
WORKING CONDITIONS
ENVIRONMENT:
Indoor and outdoor environment; driving a vehicle to conduct work; fast-paced work; constant interruptions; noise from equipment operation; work around or with mechanical equipment; work with or exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals such as petroleum products, degreasers, and sprays
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Consistent mental alertness; standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods of time; lift and carry light to moderate weight objects, occasionally more than 75 pounds; push/pull exerting force to approximately 30 pounds, occasionally 75+ pounds; climbing up and down ladders and stairs; bending and twisting at waist and neck; crouching and crawling; kneeling and bending at the waist, reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally; dexterity of both arms and hands, and fingers while operating equipment and cleaning; seeing to read, write, and to perform duties; hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone.
