Education
High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.

Skills
Ability to communicate with a variety of customers in an effective and tactful manner; strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and coordinate work from several individuals simultaneously; demonstrated knowledge and skills with computer software, particularly the Microsoft Office Suite; ability to follow oral and written instructions quickly and accurately; ability to detect and correct errors in standard English language usage; ability to receive, process and protect the integrity of highly confidential information; ability to work as an effective team member; willingness to learn new software packages and other processes efficiently; and ability to represent Gwinnett County Public Schools in a positive and professional manner.

Work Experience
Three years in an office/clerical environment required. Experience in a school system preferred.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
Assist in the organization and coordination of all aspects of the Department of Special Education and Psychological Services through providing support to the Director of Special Education - Instructional Services.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

1. Perform general clerical duties.
a. Maintain accurate financial/accounting records as assigned.
b. Prepare work orders and/or purchase orders from verbal and written requests.
c. File various correspondence, reports, forms, and publications in an accurate and orderly fashion.
d. Maintain and requisition supplies as authorized through established procedures.
e. Establish and maintain an organized filing system.
f. Assist in compiling and preparation of data for budgets, staff meetings, conferences, and Board of Education meetings.
g. Operate routine office machinery including, but not limited to, scanners, calculators, photocopiers, computers, fax and printers.
h. Route incoming and outgoing correspondence and phone calls accurately.
i. Type various forms, reports, memos, and letters as assigned.

2. Maintain familiarity and a general working knowledge of the functions and responsibilities of the Department of Special Education and Psychological Services.
a. Establish and maintain a general knowledge of district policies and procedures with an emphasis on those pertaining to the department.
b. Establish and maintain vendor lists for timely information on equipment pricing and availability.
c. Maintain and create professional development courses in the professional learning PD&E system.
d. Maintain maintenance agreements, warranty expirations, and inventory listings of hardware and software used by the department.
e. Expedite purchasing and receiving of hardware and software via PeopleSoft.
f. Maintain databases and calendars as assigned.
h. Reconcile accounts and prepare reports as assigned.

3. Communicate in a businesslike, courteous, and efficient manner.
a. Cooperate with and maintain a positive relationship with other employees in the office to which assigned.
b. Cooperate with and maintain a positive relationship with all other school system employees.

4 . Assist with new projects as assigned.

5. Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
