Pittsburgh Public Schools employs over 4,000 individuals in various capacities to support the academic achievement and strength of character of the 25,000 students we serve. The Talent Management Team in the Office of Human Resources is responsible for the recruiting and staffing functions of the organization, and is committed to the development of a high-performing diverse and talented workforce. The Recruitment Specialist will be aggressive, proactive and strategic in transforming the recruitment function for Pittsburgh Public Schools. S/he will implement a strategic recruitment plan that creates on-demand pipelines of high-potential candidates for teacher, substitute teacher, and central office positions throughout the district. S/he will market Pittsburgh Public Schools as it transforms into one of the nation?s premier school district in one of its most livable cities. S/he will establish and serve as the primary relationship manager with in-state and out-of-state colleges and universities, professional and community organizations, and will develop formal and informal networks to identify potential candidates. S/he will ensure that qualified, diverse talent is recruited, engaged, and ready to hire in advance of need.

Salary:
Support Exempt Salary Schedule, Level 5 (starting at $59, 010)

Candidates must be enthusiastic about the fundamental goal of advancing student achievement in an urban public school district. Candidates must be comfortable working on a team committed to better meeting the needs of our student population by increasing the racial diversity and cultural competency of our workforce. We are a hard working team focused on results and expect the pursuit of excellence in all aspects of the organization. In addition, we are seeking candidates with:

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.

- Ability to quickly establish credibility and build relationships with multiple stakeholders including university or other sources, community partners, school-based and central office staff, and applicants.

- A demonstrated track record of success in recruiting talent.

- Knowledge of requirements to secure a teaching or administrative license in Pennsylvania.

- Ability to exercise a high degree of confidentiality, professionalism, poise, tact and diplomacy to accomplish objectives.

- A capacity to solve problems, to stay organized and manage multiple priorities.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Strong research skills, including the ability to research demographics of university programs, applicant sources, job posting sites and other recruitment resources for locating diverse talent.

- Ability to innovate and think creatively.

- Proficient computer literacy skills with an in-depth knowledge of data mining, internet research, and social media expertise.

- Ability to work with MS Office suite of programs expected.

- At least three years of experience with recruiting and staffing, job development, employer outreach, marketing/communications or related experience preferred.

Essential Job Functions:
1. Execute the long-term and annual strategic plan for PPS recruiting.

2. Implements the recruitment plan so as to ensure that milestones are achieved on-time, within budget, and at high levels of quality.

3. Plans, coordinates, and attends a variety of recruitment events, aggressively seeking out high-impact opportunities to promote employment in PPS, and strategically craft messages to promote PPS as a world-class employer.

4. Proactively identifies, cultivates and influences diverse talent to apply for appropriate positions within and join the District.

5. Builds and maintains relationships with community, college and universities, and organization leaders both within state and out-of state.

6. Builds applicant sources by researching and contacting in-state and out-of-state community services, college and universities, employment agencies, recruiters, media, internet sites etc.

7. Assists in building capacity of PPS employees in departments other than Human Resources to recruit effectively.

8. Develops and implements a social media presence that engages prospects and drives interest in applying for opportunities within the District.

9. Analyzes applicant and new hire data to inform recruiting strategies.

10. Coordinates promotional events and other engagement opportunities to market employment in PPS for prospective hires and current employees.

11. Creates and facilitates engaging multimedia presentations to a variety of audiences.

12. Collaborates with Marketing & Communications on the preparation of candidate marketing materials and mailings.

13. Provides high touch communication, customer service, and support so that high potential candidates choose PPS and feel welcomed to the District.

14. Researches and recommends new sources for active and passive candidate recruiting.

15. Tracks and evaluates the effectiveness of individual strategies, the overall recruitment campaign, and makes recommendations to adjust as needed.

16. Maintains communication with regular check-ins with Talent Management team members.

17. Performs other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
