NATURE OF POSITION:
Creates and maintains a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the ability level of the student. Plans a program of learning experiences that will assist in achieving SOL skill development and progression for students at the fourth and fifth grade level in the areas of health and physical education. Instructs students in sports, recreational/ leisure activities and healthy life style issues. Coordinates special events such as tournaments and other events. Works in collaboration with staff and teachers. Maintains accurate and complete records as required. Complies with and enforces school rules, state and federal regulations and school board policies and procedures. Attends and participates in faculty meetings and serves on committees as appropriate. Performs other school duties and assignments as appointed. Reports to the principal.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires Virginia teaching license with appropriate endorsement.
START DATE: As soon after selection as possible
SALARY / STIPEND: Consistent with the 2018-2019 DPS Teacher Salary Scale, depending on experience and advanced degrees. In addition, the Danville Public School Board pays the employee cost in full for state retirement and in part for health insurance. Other benefits include sick leave and personal leave.
