Title: Specialist I, Digital/Social Media

Position Summary:

The Specialist I for Digital/Social Media is responsible for the effective delivery of news and school system information to Fulton County Schools' (FCS) internal and external stakeholders. The incumbent in this position assists in the development of a new media strategy, handles the implementation of the strategy, and assists in developing and supporting various interactive technology and media tools.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintains and executes approved strategy for digital and social mediaWrites and edits social media postsCreates opportunities and provides recommendations to use graphic design and digital/social media communicationAssists in developing standards for effective digital/social media communication across the DistrictMaintains Communication Dept.'s photo archives, District app, database and promotional monitorsPromotes and assists internal and external groups with FCS graphic style requirementsProvides support for various departments, initiatives, and programs to help internal stakeholders meet objectives for external engagementSupports the development of an annual digital/social media communications plan that meets organizational objectives and aligns with FCS communications strategy and overall District goals; Communicates and implements plan consistently across the DistrictMeasures the effectiveness of communications messages and channels on an ongoing basis and makes recommendations to review and amend plans as appropriateProvides updates to the Executive Director of Communications and other key internal and external stakeholders at regular intervals to ensure the new media strategy is effectiveServes as point of contact for communication inquiries and requests for adviceProvides support to departments in developing their own communications programs while ensuring consistency with the central communications strategyAdvises Executive Director on sensitive and complex communications challenges, including crisis communications issuesCreates opportunities for employees and the community to interact with District Leadership; Organizes and coordinates events and ensures mechanisms are in place to gather and act on meaningful stakeholder feedback, factoring that into future effortsSupports the culture of the organizationServes as a champion for the District's values, standards, and strategic initiativesPerforms other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Education and Experience:
Education:
  • High School diploma or GED requiredSome college preferred

Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a related field required

Certification/Licensure:
  • None requiredMust be willing to acquire additional training as directed by manager

Minimum Qualifications
  • Excellent verbal, written, and visual communications skills with the ability to present information clearly, concisely and creativelyKnowledge of communications methodsMust be able to manage SharePoint website and communication databasesProficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Social Media Platforms, and Content Management SystemsDemonstrated ability to work with personal and confidential informationMust be able to collaborate effectively with district and school personnel, the general public, and work with diverse groups of peopleMust be able to successfully manage multiple tasks, projects, and responsibilitiesAbility to work independently or as a team member

Salary Information:
Salary Range for 2018-2019
  • $40,552 - $47,860

Step placement credit may be granted for up to a maximum of 8 years (Step 9) of prior verifiable experience. Salary placement with Fulton County Schools is non-negotiable. Actual salary placement will be based on Fulton County Board of Education experience calculations from the Non-Teaching Salary Schedule A-235, Professional Scale, Step 1 - Step 9.
