The account clerk ensures that the District's obligations to suppliers and creditors are paid accurately and in a timely fashion.

Reports To: Director of Finance

Salary:
Secretarial/Clerical Salary Schedule Level 7 (starting at $35, 626/year)

Work Year: 12 Months

FLSA Non-Exempt

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in business/accounting preferred.

- Ability to utilize Microsoft Office and other business-related software.

- PeopleSoft experience preferred.
-Must be able to use Office peripherals such as scanners and printers.

- Ability to work productively and to schedule and complete tasks assigned.

- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with schools, and other departments.

Residency Requirements: City of Pittsburgh Residency Required

Essential Job Functions:
1. The account clerk reviews invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to data entry into PeopleSoft Financials for payment.

2. Checking and auditing PeopleSoft Financials records for accuracy with purchase orders and vendor invoices.

3. Maintains accounts payable files.

4. Distributes signed checks as required.

5. Prepares, maintains, and revises files and retrieves information.

6. Demonstrates appropriate communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to analyze and recommend changes in clerical procedure.

7. Answers all vendor inquiries.

8. Works with Pittsburgh Public School principals, secretaries, etc., to pay purchase orders, and direct payment invoices.

9. The Account Clerk performs related duties as required.
