Qualifications
-
Master’s Degree in counseling preferred;
-
A minimum of two years’ experience as an international school counselor preferred.
Job Goal
The College Counselor’s goals are to give guidance in academic, college and career planning as well as college application preparation for students attending grades 9-12.
Performance Responsibilities
-
Personal Counseling (Guidance)
-
Serve as advocate and/or intermediary for students;
-
Confer with parents, faculty, and administrators with regard to students with
academic difficulties as necessary;
-

College Advisement
-
Advise students and parents on admissions procedures through individual and group meetings, year-round, including evening seminars, workshops, and presentations;
-
Write recommendations for each university candidate assigned, as needed, and process all application materials;
-
Provide information on post-secondary school education worldwide for all students;
-
Promote and coordinate visitos of university representatives and the college tours;
-
Coordinate college applications, including applications themselves, teacher
recommendations, transcripts, fees, and mailings;
-
Provide financial aid and scholarship information and assistance.

Academic Advisement
-
Confer with students regarding appropriate course loads beginning the Spring terms;
-
Assist in course registration and scheduling of returning students
-

Career Advisement
-
Coordinate the utilization of the Naviance program (18-19) or the program school will be using in 19-20+ by all students for college or career guidance;

Provide individual counseling regarding careers and appropriate choices
-

Records and Reporting Procedure
-
With our high school and academic divisions, oversee preparation, maintenance, and distribution of progress reports, grades, reports, and transcripts;

Maintain student files;
-
Provide periodic analysis and reporting on college admissions and testing. F. Testing

Provide information and registration assistance for all college entrance examinations;
-
Coordinate career guidance programs and testing such as MAP, ACT, PSAT, SAT, SSAT, and AP exams with HS divisions;

• Provide in-service and workshops, as needed, for faculty, students, and parents. H. Other

Consult with division administrators on academic process of student when necessary;

Close communication with HS division administrators

Coordinate and implement transition programs for new and exisiting students;

Serve on committees as needed. Work Year
• College counselors work an additional 10-20 days to the faculty school year, to be allocated in conert with the high school administrators.
Reports To
The college counselor reports to the high school director.
Interact With
The college counselor interacts with students, faculty, parents, administrators, and community resources.
Performance Evaluation
The college counselor is evaluated by the high school director.
