The Department of STEM & Strategic Initiatives is charged with the following: leading the development of PreK- 8 STEM model and implementation for STEM Initiative Elementary Schools; the implementation of the Early College STEM model for High Schools; driving the development of the K12 STEM Education strategy in CPS; the integration of STEM Initiatives and strategic planning across CPS, including providing subject matter expertise, technical assistance, and the management of select strategic initiatives to support college and career success.

This position will provide critical support for driving high-quality implementation of strategic plans for STEM. The STEM Project coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day operations, coordination, and data analysis of Department wide programs, projects and community outreach. This position reports to the MSAP Project Director.

Key Responsibilities :

•Develops, plans, coordinates, and evaluates Magnet Schools Assistance Program (MSAP) STEM programs;

•Assists in planning, organizing and facilitating operations and maintenance, and in coordinating interactions with partners, contractors, school staff;

•Support implementation of MSAP grant plan by providing critical data and process support to Networks and Schools (e.g., monitor programs/ interventions, track of student outcomes, and collect and disseminate promising practices)

•Collaborate with evaluation team to implement and gather data on GEPRA and performance measures of the MSAP Grant - Plan and coordinate logistics for a variety of STEM professional development, special events and community outreach activities;

•Assists in the development of service agreements, or contracts;

•Coordinate and manage data entry logistics for professional learning system;

•Prepares follow-up correspondence and writes reports related to departmental programs;

•Coordinates the development of a variety of materials for marketing or educational purposes;

•Orders supplies and equipment for STEM programs, centers and events and manages related inventory;

•Develops and maintains accurate data, records and files of departmental programs, activities and operational expenses;

•Gathers, develops and furnishes data to assist in grant writing, reporting and budget preparations;

•Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications-Skills & Abilities:

• Proven project management capabilities and the ability to align and implement activities toward execution of events

•Self-starter with ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, both independently, and as a member of a collaborative team.

•Strong service and support orientation towards schools and school communities.

•Excellent organization and time management skills with impeccable attention to detail.

•Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences.

•Willingness to learn and adapt in the midst of shifting priorities with a "can do," solutions oriented approach to learning and problem solving.

•Budget management experience and knowledge of basic budget functions.

•Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Power Point, Word.

•Ability to work with minimal supervision outside of formalized, central office setting.

Experience:

•A minimum of three years of experience in education, nonprofit, or business-related functions

•A minimum of three years of successful and relevant experience coordinating programs and analyzing program data

•Experience working with CPS Student Information Systems and Dashboard strongly preferred

Type of Education Required:

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree required in Education or Business related field.

Residency Requirement:

As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of his or her CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district.
