Virginia Beach City Public Schools is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Coordinator, Safety and Loss Control.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the leadership of the Director of Safety and Loss Control, the position is responsible for collaborating with departments and schools to promote best practices for a safe school environment; reviewing and updating Virginia Beach City Public Schools Emergency Response Plan, and maintaining electronic access to the plan. In addition, the position is responsible for coordinating all operations associated with the Visitor Management System and working collaboratively with School Plant regarding the division's Central Control Platform and Security Systems.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must have an understanding and knowledge of school emergency operations procedures, and the principles and methods of teaching and instruction for individuals and groups. Must have the skills necessary to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions or approaches to problems. Must have the ability to develop and present ideas effectively, both in oral and written form; analyze risks to minimize losses or damages; communicate organizational policies and procedures; monitor facilities or operational systems; establish and maintain effective working relationships with all school officials and associates. Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with all levels of administration and staff as well as the public. Must have the ability to work independently, applying established procedures to varying solutions, and referring only new or unusual matters to the Director.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Must have a Bachelor's Degree and considerable experience in school operations, Master's Degree in School Administration preferred and an advanced knowledge and proficiency in technology is desired.

A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

Unified Pay Scale Grade 21. For the 2017-2018 School Year, the entry level salary is $66, 289. The selected candidate's actual salary will be based on the individual's verified years of creditable experience.
