Position: Anticipated Paraprofessional Part-Time - World Language

Location: Milford Central Academy

Reports To: Principal

Starting Date: August 27, 2018

Qualifications:
  • Eligible for Delaware Paraprofessional Certification using one of the three options:
  1. High School Diploma and Passing Paraprofessional Assessment or
  2. Completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher learning and accumulating at least 60 credits.or
  3. Associate's degree or higher
  • Verbal and written proficiency in Haitian Creole and/or Spanish.


Performance Responsibilities:
  • Assists in a variety of instructional activities with an individual or groups of students as assigned.
  • Assists with interpretation and translation as needed.
  • Serves as liaison with non-English speaking parents/guardians.
  • Records data on individual students as assigned.
  • Assists in adapting/modifying instructional activities and materials.
  • Reinforces subjects and behaviors taught by the teacher. Responds to student behavioral needs in ways which are appropriate and respectful to the student.
  • Assists teachers in checking and objectively evaluating progress; teaches children individually and in small groups reinforcing skills based upon instructional guidelines.
  • Works with students who receive special education services and is sensitive to the specialized needs of these students.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative relations with others.
  • Participate in professional growth activities.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Terms of Employment: 5.5 hours daily - 185 days per school year. Salary and work year to be according to the current salary schedule and the Professional Agreement.

Salary and Benefits: Salary range and benefits are commensurate with qualifications and experience in accordance with Board of Education Policy.

Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board's policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
