PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Paraprofessionals provide aides and support to teachers in classrooms. Even without being lead teachers, paraprofessionals work responsibly assisting regular and special education teachers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School Diploma
2. Passed Para Pro test in order to meet the HQ requirements provided by DOE

REPORTS TO:

Special ED Coordinator

Responsibilities of Paraprofessional

• Follow the schedule put in place, and be prompt to class.
• Work with students who have IEPs' Goals.
• Utilize materials such as ABC's on a ring, numbers on a ring, one to one correspondence, and so on for goals.
• Independently motivated to complete tasks, and run small group instruction.
• Practice skills with the students, and be self-motivated to complete practice with students.
• Work with small group, and students who have IEPs.
• Complete progress monitoring as instructed from Special Education Teacher.
• Meet with the teacher once a week to discuss the next week's activities, expectations, and debrief about student progress.

OTHER:

1. Performs other duties as may be assigned

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Directors

A person may not be employed by a public school employer in any position requiring licensure and certification if the person does not meet licensure and certification requirements established under Chapter 12 of [Title 14 of the Delaware Code]..., except pursuant to a license extension and/or emergency certificate issued pursuant to Chapter 12. See 14 Del. C.§ 1313.
