Qualifications:
Any combination of education and experience equal to graduation from high school, supplemented by completion of an acceptable apprentice training program plus six years progressively more responsible experience in one or more of the trades under supervision to include, air conditioning, refrigeration, commercial boiler systems and steamfitting repairs, one year of which shall have been at the supervisory level. Comprehensive knowledge of procedures, techniques, materials, equipment, and tools involved in a wide variety of installation, maintenance, and repair activities of all trades supervised; skill in performance of the work and good knowledge of local, state, and national codes where applicable; ability to plan, organize, direct, and provide technical assistance to a large group of trade employees; ability to make independent judgments and decisions within established policies and to interpret policies for subordinates; ability to read and interpret work orders, diagrams, sketches, blueprints, and manufacturers' manuals; ability to make sketches and drawings; ability to estimate costs of work performed; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to keep accurate records and prepare reports; ability to maintain good interpersonal relations; physical ability necessary to carry out requirements of the work. Possession of a valid EPA-approved universal refrigerant recovery certification to include types I, II, and III. Possession of a valid Commonwealth of Virginia master mechanical's license. Valid driver's license with a good driving record. May be required to work an evening and/or night shift on a regular or rotating basis, and/or agree to assume an emergency call-out list status.
