Waukesha's AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program is looking for tutors. AVID is a K-16 college-readiness system whose mission is to "close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society." AVID supports motivated students in the academic middle who strive to succeed in rigorous courses so that they can reach their highest potential. In the AVID Elective class, the AVID Tutor facilitates Socratic-style discussion groups aimed at helping students develop a deeper understanding of core academic concepts.

To prepare for their role as facilitators in this process, AVID Tutors receive initial training and ongoing coaching. Tutors are needed at both the middle and high school levels.
