The Associate Director of Major Gifts will enthusiastically participate in fundraising efforts, with a clear understanding that fundraising is critical to the success of the organization. S/he will work in close collaboration with the VP of Institutional Advancement and the Advancement Team, staff and volunteers to strategically work towards HVA’s desired outcomes while building and maintaining relationships on behalf of the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop, implement, and increase individual giving from donors $100,000+
  • Deliver tailored, personalized stewardship and engagement opportunities to all current major donors to HVA
  • Manage and execute all aspects of giving strategies including research, portfolio management, solicitations, appeals, reporting and stewardship
  • Plan annual goals and strategies with a focus on building a portfolio of major donors
  • Possess compassion, creativity, and integrity coupled with an ability to earn the confidence of a wide range of internal and external constituents
  • A team mentality and an interest in the success of colleagues
  • Proven ability for developing tactics to meet goals and objectives
  • Research new prospect markets and design and manage outreach strategies to engage first-time potential major gift donors
  • Record, track, and report on progress against annual objectives
  • Highly skilled in MS Office and other computer applications including word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet software
  • Knowledge of database software Raiser’s Edge

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience of successfully securing leadership gifts
  • Superior written communications skills with specific knowledge and experience in preparing and presenting persuasive letters and proposals
  • Excellent organizational, planning, tracking skills and follow-up skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Works well under pressure
  • Demonstrated ability to manage many competing deadlines
  • Trustworthiness with highly confidential information
  • Deeply committed to HVA’s mission
  • Willing to be hands-on (no task too big or too small)
  • Creativity, attention to detail and a sense of humor
