Assistant to the Director of Family, School and Community Partnerships


Scope of work: This position has been created to provide support to the Director of Family, School and Community Partnerships, who oversees a rich network of community and family-centric programs that are designed to increase student achievement and family partnerships. These programs include School Readiness classrooms, Family Resource Center, Family Liaisons, the Danbury Family Learning Center, Ins., Before and After School Programming (ELP), Gifted and Talented, STEM, and all Summer Programs. The Assistant will help the Director in the oversight of all programming, day-to-day operations, staff supervision, event coordination, corporate outreach and community outreach, as directed.

Reports to: Director of Family, School and Community Partnerships

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Assist in the development and operation of all extended academic programs for students and their families, including Saturday Academy, Gifted & Talented Programs, Family Camp, Play to Learn Playgroups, school readiness, and others.
  • Research and assist in development of responses to fundraising inquiries, grant opportunities.
  • Foster the development of communication with families, community organizations and corporate stakeholders
  • Data collection, program evaluation and coordination of improvement plans as needed for existing programs
  • Assist in preparation for Board of Directors meetings for the FamilyLearning Center, take and prepare minutes or other materials as needed.

Qualifications:
  • AA required. Degree or coursework focus on early childhood education, community development, or related subject.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated candidates with capacity for independent problem solving.
  • Proven success implementing relationship building skills with community, as well as with staff and families.
  • Understanding of the developmental process of developing family-school partnerships.
  • High standard of ethics, honesty and integrity required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of technology, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and data bases in general is required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including experience in communications planning, the creation of newsletters and websites preferred.
  • Bilingual is required
Terms and Conditions of Employment:
30 hours/week on a schedule to be determined with the Director of Family, Schools and Community Partnerships. Work hours include evenings and weekends.
Base location will be the Family and Community Engagement Center ("FACE"), located at 49 Osborne Street, with travel to a variety of on-site locations across the District as needed.
Salary: $ 20.00/hour
Non-union position.
