This position exists to provide compensation expertise and support the development and administration of compensation programs. This includes job evaluations, compensation analysis, salary administration, personnel actions and compensation programs, practices and policies.

Essential Functions of this Job:

Assist in the design and implementation of pay plans, including determining appropriate pay grades for new or revised jobs on the basis of internal equity. Consult, advise, and make recommendations regarding compensation decisions including establishing pay rates for new hire, promotion and demotion pay activities. Conduct job evaluations and write, revise, and maintain updated job descriptions. Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of policies and rules related to compensation programs. Ensure compliance with FLSA classifications and other federal and state laws. Assist with administration of annual increases.

The Compensation Analyst shall: 1. assist in developing or maintaining a classification and compensation plan to objectively rank jobs. 2. evaluate jobs using the appropriate evaluation instruments for the salary schedule to which the job is

assigned to ascertain the job qualifications, performance responsibilities, etc., prepare an evaluation and establish the rationale for each respective evaluation.

3. correlate the job evaluations with comparable/competitive wage and salary data. Evaluate the job ranking within the school district against the external salary data.

4. cooperate with other school systems and agencies in the sharing of material and information.

5. prepare wage and salary survey studies, maintain wage and salary and other statistical records and reference materials as directed.

6. research, document, and maintain an on-going analysis of economic trends as they relate to employee compensation.

7. effectively communicate complex, technical information by utilizing advanced written, technical, and human relations skills.

8. maintain organized system for a periodic review of established job specifications and salary grades, which may include job analysis.

9. assist, upon request, with determining cost impacts related to job assignments, promotions, demotions, salary schedule changes, etc.

10. assist with the preparation of a wage and salary schedule book encompassing all approved schedules and general information.

11. research requests to confirm salary placement by monitoring the application of the bargaining agreement provisions related to compensation.

12. assist in accurately documenting work performed throughout the district by preparing job descriptions following standard format currently in use.

13. perform and promote all activities in compliance with equal employment and non- discrimination policies of the School Board of Polk County.

14. participate successfully in the training programs offered to increase the individual's skill and proficiency related to the assignments.

15. review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibility. 16. assist department heads in analyzing and drafting appropriate job descriptions. 17. ensure adherence to good safety procedures. 18. follow Federal and State laws, as well as School Board policies. 19. perform other duties as assigned by the district administrator or designee.

Non-Essential Functions of this Job:

Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to perform complex cost analysis and administer any annual increase processes. Knowledge of employment laws and regulations. Advanced knowledge of HRIS systems and reporting. Advanced Excel skills. Superb attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and excellent communication skills required. Ability to plan and implement the programs directed towards ensuring effective utilization of departmental resources to support the district's Human Resource needs. Ability to work well with others.

Education, Experience and/or Certification/License Requirements:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree required, (preferably in Human Resources, Accounting, Finance or related field). HR industry certification, HR experience in the K-12 education field, and/or Certified Compensation Professional (CPP) preferred. Considerable experience within past three years in personnel management, human resources, or data analysis required.

Work Context:

Requires some sitting and standing, walking and moving about to coordinate work. Requires the use of alternative communication systems, such as electronic mail, telephones and computers. Requires coordination of work tasks to establish priorities, set goals and meet deadlines. Requires face-to-face discussions and contact with individuals and/or teams. Requires work with internal and external contacts, and with the public.

Physical Environment:

Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. Requires sitting for the majority of the day, and the ability to lift, carry, move and/or position objects infrequently weighing up to 20 pounds.
