Camelot Education, a leader in providing special education services, is recruiting creative, compassionate and caring individuals to join our team. We are seeking an Assistant Principal for our Naperville, Illinois campus. This program serves students K-22 years with diverse learning needs, including those with SED/LD/BD.

The Assistant Principal position oversees the direction, coordination and evaluation of the educational program, while working with the leadership team and staff to improve the overall quality of education, behavior, growth and care of students.

Job Duties Include But Are Not Limited To:
Direct supervisor of Special Education Teachers, including hiring, training, planning, assigning/directing daily duties, coaching/mentoring and completing required evaluations/observations
Indirect supervisor of Paraprofessionals and Teacher Assistants. Oversee and coordinate these staff evaluations and attendance records
Set up and maintain ISBE Student Information System each semester
Evaluate referrals, calls, tours, and work with Teachers and School Therapist during intakes and coordinate goal writing
Prepare and attend students' IEP meetings and assure IEP documentation is accurately completed prior to the meeting and on-going monitoring to ensure compliance of students' IEPs
Set up report card system and review report cards quarterly
Understands and implements the Illinois State Board of Education standards at school
Maintains close working relationship with school district, parents and community
Provide and monitor crisis intervention at the school
Prepare and train staff for MAP, PARCC, DLM, ACCESS and state science testing
Act as a back-up to the school Executive Director
Organize, plan and deliver training for professional development and weekly staff meetings

Experience and Skills:

Qualified Candidates Will Have:
  • Current Illinois Special Education Certificate -LBS1
  • Illinois Professional Educator Certificate in General Administration (previously referred to as a Type 75)
  • Experience supervising staff preferred
  • Experience working with similar population in a school setting preferred
  • Strong professional communication skills both oral and written
  • Ability to record and analyze data utilizing excel and google drive
