QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires the knowledge of managing, overseeing and directing people and/or teams of people; journalistic writing style and interview techniques; English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation; computers and word processing skills; comfort with a wide range of computer software including Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Edlio, Adobe Suite and web site creation/maintenance software; specialized and technical skills associated with a variety of photographic and videography methods and equipment; live streaming platforms; Social Media platforms; collecting metadata for district use; digital design.

Must possess the skill to establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties; manage, oversee and direct people; coordinate teams of people; carry out verbal and written directions independently; write effectively; create, research and publish content in a variety of mediums (Web, Twitter, Other social media platforms, print copy, web copy etc.); operate photography/video equipment and the necessary programs to produce finished products as assigned; oversee continued development and advancement of KHSD Publications; coordinate and organize KHSD Live Streaming; coordinate advancement of social media (all aspects); direct and oversee design team of KHSD publications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Directly oversee teams responsible for the wide variety of KHSD programs and publications; coordinate development and creation of KHSD publications; responsible for layout of publication, design, articles; prepares budget, scheduling of content, creation of content; in charge of and oversee advertising, sales and distribution of publications; assist with content aspect of magazine; coordinate all aspects of KHSD Live Streaming; scheduling of games; scheduling of personnel (broadcaster, color and technical); train personnel on Kern High Network Standards; responsible for inventory, maintenance and use of KHSD digital equipment (video camera, DSLR camera, Live Steaming equipment, etc.); responsible for development and advancement in the area of social media and live streaming; maintain current industry standards for magazine, digital magazine, and live streaming; coordinate, organize and arrange assigned sections of the Kern High School District webpage; coordinate KHSD School Support Services digital social media such as: Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and any other applicable social mediums; serve as the event coordinator for KHSD events such as: PEAAK Awards; responsible for nomination and filtering of PEAAK Nominees; coordinate selection committee for PEAAK Awards; event coordinator for PEAAK Awards, KHSD All Star Events; responsible for selection of teams, balance of teams, selection of coaches; responsible for event organization: Scheduling, Facility, Support Staff etc.; design all KHSD (KHN) logos and materials for distribution; prepare all online scheduling, coaches support for Kern High School District; other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma Required. Combination of Three years postsecondary education, preferably with coursework in marketing, business, communications, design, multimedia, web design and/or additional qualifying work experience in marketing, business, communications, design, multimedia, web development. One year experience with coordinating/directing employees required. Experience with managing large events preferred.

A CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK WILL BE REQUIRED OF SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT.

DUTIES OF POSITION: Directly oversees and performs high skilled and complex design, creation, content, photo and video for Kern High School District/Kern High Network publications. Creates and designs KHSD publications; organizes layout, spreads and coordinates advertising sales, budgeting and staffing for photography. This person will direct, oversee and evaluate the work product of other employees such as the publication team and the live stream team. This job consists of a high level of expertise in design and graphic programs such as Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Video editing, and creativity.

STARTING SALARY: $5,364.12 (monthly)
NUMBER OF MONTHS: 12 (to begin as soon as possible)
NUMBER OF HOURS: 8 (daily working hours 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)
