REPORTS TO:
Local Building Principal

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledgeable of the instructional process, public relations, school finance, school law, personnel management, administration, supervision, curriculum and educational processes. Must possess leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary to work effectively with students, teachers and parents. Must have had three years of successful, full-time experience as a teacher, administrator or supervisor, one year of which must have been in the area or at the level supervised.

STATE REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Hold a Virginia teaching certificate and endorsed in Admin/Supervision.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

BASIC FUNCTION/NATURE OF WORK:

The basic function of this position is to assist the principal in providing the administrative and instructional leadership within a generally autonomous elementary building for the maximum educational nurture of all the children assigned in grades K-5. This includes coordination of all personnel connected with the school and school system.

DIMENSIONS:

Oversees extracurricular assignments including moneymaking activities & assists principal with budget. Assists principal with supervising of all certified, classified & support staff.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES/ILLUSTRATIVE EX OF WORK:

  • Work collaboratively with all stake holders in providing a world-class education.
  • Assume responsibility for the administration of the school in the absence of the principal.
  • Assists in planning and carrying out programs of instruction.
  • Selects and procures instructional materials.
  • Assists the principal with the evaluation of personnel.
  • Counsels and confers with students, teachers, parents.
  • Aids and assists the principal with preparation of written reports.
  • Participates in an effective program of school-community interaction.
  • Assists in the planning and implementation of building in-service programs, grade level meetings and faculty meetings.
  • Coordinates the testing program within the school.
  • Assists in curriculum revision and implementation.
  • The incumbent is responsible for the maintenance of discipline as assigned by the building principal.
  • The incumbent will coordinate a variety of extracurricular activities.
  • The incumbent will be assigned duties including maintenance of inventories of all school equipment, schedule development, school bus coordination, supervision of fire drill procedure, preparation of activity calendar, preparation of committee assignments, coordination of work will colleges, coordination of parent/school organization requirements, and many others.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
