High school diploma or general education (GED); two years of general office or clerical experience, including some experience in keeping financial records; or any combination of experience and training that would provide the following knowledge, abilities, and skills: Considerable knowledge of office procedures and equipment and basic bookkeeping practices. Ability to work accurately and quickly, accounting for large sums of money. Ability to work well with others. Ability to perform general office duties. Skill in maintaining accurate records and accounts. Performs other duties as assigned.

BASIC FUNCTION/NATURE OF WORK:

BASIC FUNCTION: This is skilled clerical work maintaining financial records and processing financial transactions in an elementary school or central office. The work includes receiving, recording, and depositing money; maintaining records; and preparing reports as needed. The work is performed under the general supervision of a principal or assistant principal or program supervisor. DIMENSIONS:

Grade 6; 7.5 hours/day

This position requires a full background investigation which includes a review of current credit score. Credit score must be 660 or better.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES/ILLUSTRATIVE EX OF WORK:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Receives, records, and deposits all money. Writes all checks for program/school expenditures. Maintains complete bookkeeping system for program/school. Makes financial reports to principal/supervisor. Makes federal and state tax deposits and reports. Prepares and routes purchase orders and vendors invoices for school staff. Keeps records of students lost books and amounts owed the school. Picks up deposit bags from bank. Maintains financial filing system. Prepares financial statements, checkbook reconciliation�s, and bank statement reconciliation�s for Finance Supervisor. Communicates with department chairmen regarding departmental finances. Collects bad debts due the school. Performs other duties as assigned.

SALARY:
Hiring Range: $30,455 - $41,705/year ($18.74 - $24.94/hour)
