FY19 Secondary Music Teacher Vacancy

POSITION: Music Teacher (Grades 5 -12)

LOCATION: Delmar Middle & High School

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Certified Teacher of Music K-12 (Choral and Instrumental, preferred) required
  • Satisfactory Child Protection Registry
  • Mantoux skin test/PPD documentation
  • Cooperative Attitude
  • Excellent work ethic and ability to work collaboratively
  • The State of Delaware requires all public school employees to undergo a criminal background check (state and federal) to determine suitability for employment.
  • Appointment is contingent upon receipt of a satisfactory criminal background check, which is the responsibility of the employee.
  • The State of Delaware requires new employees to be paid by direct deposit and to be part of a lag payroll system as conditions of employment.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Build and maintain a successful secondary music, band, and choral program.
  2. Teach music techniques including but not limited to: balance, blend, timing, intonation, expression, phrasing and technique.
  3. Teach choral techniques, including but not limited to: blend, balance, phrasing, style, good tone production and quality, proper breathing and proper vowel forma­tion.
  4. Teach marching techniques, including but not limited to: marching, movement, drill and field techniques.
  5. Attend and perform at selected community and school parades, pep rallies and other similar events.
  6. Keep accurate attendance records for classes, rehearsals, and performances.
  7. Create student learning maps and monitor curricular progress in digital interfaces.
  8. Monitor students' academic progress through accurate grades and assessments.
  9. Provide instructional opportunities through a digital student learning management system
  10. Provide band performance opportunities for the ensemble—a minimum of 2 per year and choral performance opportunities for the ensemble - a minimum of 2 per year
  11. Provide opportunities for students to be part of auxiliary band/choral ensembles and audition for district, state, regional, and national band/choral ensembles.
  12. Other duties as assigned.


SALARY: As per state and local salary schedules for FY19 based upon experience and educational degree.
