    The filling of this position is based upon continued funding in the Board of Education budget.

    Note: Teachers dually certified in TESOL, Bilingual Education or ESL, with experience in Sheltered Instruction or fluency in a language other than English, will be given preference for all Stamford Public School positions.

    GENERAL STATEMENT
    The Instructional Support Teacher provides academic support for literacy in their building, as well as individualized and group coaching on SRBI Tier I Literacy intervention strategies and coaching. They report to the building principal and are supported by district level administrators in the implementation of instruction.Evaluations will be conducted by the building administrator. The Instructional Support Teacher will participate in ongoing PD in reading instruction, , PBS, other Tier I supports and other professional development, when provided.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Plans and delivers targeted standards based whole and small-group instruction (80% of time) in literacy
    • Establishes learning objectives consistent with assessment of student needs, requirements of Connecticut Learning Standards, and knowledge of human growth and development.
    • Plans for and utilizes instructional methods, resources and evaluation techniques which motivate and enable each student to achieve learning targets
    • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of language arts grade level expectations, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and communicates these objectives to students.
    • Continually collects, assesses and analyzes student data to monitor student progress in meeting literacy targets
    • Make instructional adjustments that move student to appropriate reading targets
    • Provides individualized and group coaching on Tier I intervention strategies for colleagues, to devise and maintain support for student attainment of literacy targets (20% of time)
    • Assist individual teachers with implementing SRBI techniques and strategies.This may include, but is not limited to, assistance with developing lessons and modeling differentiated teaching techniques to support interventions.Administration will provide meeting time for this to occur during the contractual day.
    • Works collaboratively with building and district administration on School Improvement Plans, to provide consistent high expectations for all students.
    • If position is grant funded, follows grant guidelines, respond to grant reporting guidelines and complete monthly logs as required by the grant.
    • Attends meetings with District Curriculum Team as needed during the school day
    • Performs other duties related to this assignment as assigned by the building administration
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    • Current Connecticut Professional Educator teacher certification; 102-Remedial Reading and Remedial Language Arts, 1–12. When released by the state, holders of the new coaching certification will also be appropriate for this position.
    • Five (5) years of successful teaching experience
    • Recent full-time regular classroom experience preferred but not required.
    • Familiarity with national, state, and local curriculum standards and frameworks
    • Knowledge of SRBI program and interventions
    • Experience with planning and delivering standards based literacy and math instruction
    • Knowledge of student data analysis
    • Demonstrated experience in utilizing research-based instructional strategies
    • Demonstrated experience in aligning curriculum with CSDE Common Core of Teaching
    • Experience in writing standards-based lesson plans
    • Knowledge of a range of effective instructional strategies, assessment tools, and research-based "best practices"

    • Computer proficiency in technology and data collection systems
    TERM
    Three Years - Incumbents may re-apply upon expiration of the term.

    SALARY
    The salary for this position is determined in accordance with the provisions of the current teachers' contract. Compensation will be in accordance with the current teachers' contract.
