POSITION SUMMARY
To supervise, lead with integrity and assist with the design, implementation and evaluation of educational Science and STEM programs, district initiatives and state/federal instructional mandates; work with individuals on curriculum development and education reform; provide professional training to staff about STEM education in correlation with Common Core State Standards and Next Generation Science Standards.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: District Office
Direct Supervisor: Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Explicit knowledge of the Science curriculum
- A track record of excellent collaboration, facilitation, and team-building
- Supervise, plan and conduct in-service training for teachers and coaches on best classroom instructional practices in Science and STEM education through teacher/grade level teacher meetings, coach/coordinator meetings and district-wide professional development
- Build STEM education partnerships with businesses/universities
- Create/oversee a STEM education team within each building
- Assist in overseeing and helping to grow the STEM pipeline program
- Oversee the after-school, Saturday and Summer STEM programs
- Maintain/monitor weekly collaboration schedule with teachers and building administrators
- Regularly observe instruction in all buildings in an effort to ensure adequate implementation of Science and STEM education is taking place district-wide
- Aggregate and analyze school/district data
- Oversee district-mandated Units of Study for Science & STEM education
- Oversee/implement the yearly STEM Career Fair
- Monitor the Science and STEM grants in partnership with the Grants/Project Manager
- Have planned data conversations with teachers, principals and Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning using district and state assessments
- Participate/lead professional development activities
- Meet regularly with building principals to discuss building needs/concerns of Science and STEM education in alignment to school and district initiatives
- Positive attitude and professional at all times
- Other duties as assigned related to the comprehensive development of the district's instructional program
