The Strength and Condition Coach will report directly to the Athletic Director. They also will work with the individual sport coaches in a collaborative fashion to help the teams implement strength and conditioning programming for both in-season and off-season.

To assume the responsibility and obligation of establishing, supervising, and maintaining a strength and conditioning program for all student athletes, athletic programs, and Staff at Waukesha South High School.

Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

~ Design and implement research based weight training and conditioning programs for student athletes and athletic teams at Waukesha South.

~ Conducts in-service programs for teams and coaches to maximize performance and ensure safe proper technique.

~ Plan and schedule a regular program of weight training and conditioning practices (in season as well as off season) with the head coach of each sport.

~ Set up and monitor all rules and regulations that are to be followed by all users of the weight room.

~ Supervise the weight room to ensure proper and safe use of the equipment.

~ Demonstrate correct techniques for equipment to minimize injuries and accidents.

~ Cleans, maintains, and works to repair weight room equipment in a timely manner; consulting with the Athletic Director about best practices and the need for maintenance department scheduling to help.

~Prepare an annual inventory of the weight room equipment and facility.

~Coordinate and recommend purchase of equipment and supplies as appropriate.

~Work in cooperation with the Athletic Trainer in the rehabilitation and strengthening of injured student athletes.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree PE, Sports Training, Exercise Science, Pre-Physical Therapy, or a related field.

Minimum of 2 years in a directly related field.

A combination of education and experience may be substituted for the requirements listed.

Experience and/or expertise in the area of strength training and fitness programming for diverse populations.

Ability to interact positively with student athletes, colleagues, and the public.

Possess strong motivational and disciplinary abilities.

Evidence of strong organizational skills and effective oral and written communication skills.

Ability to work hours as specified before and/or after school.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).

First Aid/CPR/AED certification.

Ability to perform minor equipment repairs.

Previous experience working with middle school/high school aged students, preferably in a fitness, PE, athletic team environment.
