Position Summary:

Mastery Charter Schools is seeking long-term substitute teachers. This position will require an instructor to work 4-5 days a week. The substitute teacher will be responsible for implementing Mastery's curriculum and utilizing classroom routines and procedures with consistency. The substitute teacher will also be responsible for developing lesson plans, homework assignments and assessments. The substitute teacher will collaborate in grade level teams to discuss student work, share best practices, and ensure student mastery of standards. The substitute teacher will be expected to form and maintain relationships with students' families, including phone calls and conferences, and will be invited to participate in on-going professional development in the spirit of continuous improvement. Mastery is looking for an instructor who is committed to teamwork and high expectations for all students. The ideal candidate will have classroom teaching experience, preferably within an urban school setting.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred

Have or be working towards teacher certification

Classroom teaching experience in an urban school setting

Data that shows significant and measurable gains in student achievement

Ability to adjust instructional strategies to reach year-end goals

Receptiveness to feedback and a desire to continuously improve

A strong sense of personal accountability for student achievement

A belief that all students should be held to high academic standards
