Provides specialized grant development services and pre-award activities for securing funding through state and federal grants, or other sources, for the school division.  Provides coordination of post-award activities. Work is performed under general supervision without specific instruction and requires frequent coordination with others at all organizational levels within and outside the organization.  Considerable judgment is required.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Collaborates with administrators, instructional specialists, school faculty and division partners to identify and respond to relevant grant opportunities or other funding sources. 
  • Develops competitive proposals that meet the needs of the school division and schools. 
  • Provides support and technical assistance to individuals schools in seeking and responding to grant opportunities. 
  • Consults with the office of compensation and benefits to determine personnel costs for grants.
  • Coordinates with the finance and budget offices to determine other costs for proposals and to assist in post-award activities.
  • Obtains necessary approvals prior to and during the grant writing process.  Ensures critical deadlines for grant submissions are met. 
  • Coordinates site visits and interviews with prospective grant sponsors.
  • Coordinates and assists instructional administrators and central office staff in post-award activities.
  • Performs independent research to identify prospective grants. 
  • Prepares reports, maintains files of submitted grants and provides periodic status reports.
  • Coordinates federal entitlement grants as needed. Acts as point of contact for private schools to meet federal requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Working knowledge of grants-funded program development; of state and federal regulations and guidelines concerning grant submission and administration and of project management.  Skill in the use of a personal computer, utilizing spreadsheet and word-processing software.  Demonstrated ability to develop and write grant proposals and to secure grant awards; to organize work and meet strict deadlines; to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to interpret and apply Federal guidelines and regulations.  
Requirements: Education, training, or experience sufficient to demonstrate the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
