JOB SUMMARY
Teaches basic academic subjects to students requiring modified or adapted work, using special techniques or programs to improve behavior and/or academic achievement by performing the following duties.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree in Education (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university.
At least three (3) years of successful teaching experience. Valid Indiana Teaching License in Special Education.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Teaches basic subjects such as reading and math, applying lesson techniques designed for short attention spans.
Administers achievement tests and evaluates test results to discover level of language and math skills.
Selects and teaches reading material and math problems related to everyday life of individual student.
Confers with school counselors, school psychologists, and teaching staff to, obtain additional testing information and to gain insight on student behavioral disorders affecting the learning process.
Designs special help programs for low achievers and encourages parent teacher cooperation
Attends professional meetings, writes reports, and maintains records.
Discusses pupils' academic and behavioral attitudes and achievements with parents.
