Description: The teacher provides a warm, nurturing, safe, and loving environment where self-concepts are enhanced, independence encourage, and individuality respected.
Essential Job Duties:
- Protect the safety of all children in the centerSupervise children at all timesUse positive phrasing with the childrenCommunicate frequently with children throughout the dayInteract with children during play activities both indoors and on the playgroundTreat each child with dignity and respectRespond to the individual needs and learning styles of all childrenRespond to children in distress promptly and appropriatelyOrganize mealtime activitiesMonitor children closely during meals
General Requirements:
- Attend all scheduled staff meetingsMaintain current infant/child CPR certificationComplete 15 hours of continuing education annuallyWork respectfully and cooperatively with co-workers
Physical Requirements:
- Observe and respond to children's needs, emergencies, and/or conflicts that might occur in the classroom, on the playground, and/or in common areasSupervise a minimum of four children alone without supervision or supportSupervise children outside while exposed to the sun, rain, and/or weather and temperature changesLift children up to 35lbs from floor to waist heightCarry child up to 35lbs for up to 100 feetSit on the floor, bend at the waist, kneel, stoop and crouch down to maintain eye contact at child's levelReach high enough to make contact with children on all playground equipmentReact to a child that is 20-30 feet away within 30 secondsPull/push a 1,2 and 4 person strollerRespond to children's first aid needs (inside and on the playground), which may include cuts, bruised, blood/bodily fluidsEstablish clear communications orally and in writing to children, parents, co-workers, and administrationDeal effectively with the stress involved in working closely with children, parents, co-workers, and administration
