POSITION SUMMARY:
The Building Integration Systems Programmer/Manager (BISP/M) is responsible for managing all of the life safety/security systems ensuring efficient services are designed to meet the standards of the Atlanta Public Schools. Ensures continual operation of all life safety systems are maintained and operational at all times. Maintains the integrity of the associated databases and internet applications. Manages the integration of all life safety systems defined as surveillance systems, digital and analog recording devices, access control systems, fire systems, intercom, clocks, freezer/cooler probe training, security/HVAC pressure sensors, burglar alarms, and security audio/visual equipment. Coordinates and assigns workflow duties of the department to achieve and maintain operating efficiency.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  1. Manages the timely dispatch and response of security support employees, authorized vendors, interdepartmental liaisons to address life safety systems installations, moves, additions, changes, and outage response.
  2. Maintain effective communication with all Atlanta Public Schools employees, contractors, and authorized vendors through the timely preparation and response to verbal and written documents, meeting requests, email, phone calls, text messages, etc.
  3. Actively engage in the research, planning, and leadership of process improvements by staying abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends; conducting and/or attending regular meetings with security support team, department staff meetings, and interdepartmental project team meetings and other meetings as required.
  4. Implementation and coordination of all life safety system training activities to include, but not limited to classroom, field, and online training as well as the development of employee training plans, training manuals, and the coordination of product vendor training events.
  5. Configure, automate, and provide department staff training on the Fire and Burglary Systems Administrative Reporting Tools and other Life Safety systems as required.
  6. Responsible for the immediate reporting of all APS policy violations, criminal incidents, and/or misconduct known either through personal witness or received by subordinates, vendors, contractors, or electronic surveillance monitoring.
  7. Issues must be promptly forwarded to the APS Director of Safety and Security and other law enforcement/department personnel as deemed appropriate and necessary.
  8. Systems administration, performing server and client upgrading, backup and archival planning, SQL database administration, and/or coordination for all Life Safety Systems throughout the district to include all phases of the software development life cycle.
  9. Software and hardware installation, configuration, programming, testing, and implementation and/or coordination for all life safety systems.
  10. Manage the integration of all life safety systems.
  11. Develop maintain an up-to-date warranty and inventory database of all Life Safety system devices, to include but not limited to keyless access schedules, IP device ranges, surveillance cameras, fire/burg systems, access control devices, intercoms, clocks, audio/visual equipment, and Security/HVAC pressure sensors.
  12. Coordinate and physically perform quality assurance checks to validate work performed by employees and vendors based on assigned project scope of work.
  13. Create and run reports as applicable for life safety systems and as determined necessary to enhance department efficiency.
  14. Establish employee goals and objectives; Perform regular and on-time employee evaluations, corrective action plans, coaching, and mentoring for the Security Support functional area; Facilitate the screening of employees.
  15. Utilize established tools and technology systems to ensure weekly time entry is posted, work orders are accurately entered and closed, equipment is ordered, and all other delays are timely resolved.
  16. Maintain effective written and oral communication with supervisor.
  17. Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.
  18. Required to attend scheduled shift during regular business hours as mandated.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Implementation of programming Security System Software and Internet integration.
  • Intranet and Internet website use and terminology.
  • Computer and network operating system.
  • Proficient in MS Suite, Outlook, and Security Software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.


Requirements: EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor?s degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Technology or related field.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
  • Five (5) years work experience to include experience programming Security System Software and Internet integration.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
  • A valid driver?s License is required.
  • CPTED Specialist designation a strong plus.


Compensation: SALARY GRADE: 126
SALARY RANGE: $51, 631 to $73, 997
WORK DAYS: 252 Days (Annual)
