SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENTS:

Assist the Director of Student Services in departmental responsibilities which support principals and other administrative staff in maintaining compliance with state and federal laws, district policies related to student rights and responsibilities, Special Education, ELD, discipline, and attendance. Also, assure ongoing communication between the district and local social, legal, and law enforcement agencies, assist building administrators and parents in resolving student issues, and support other programs as assigned. Assist in the implementation of the MTSS model throughout the district.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Serve as a resource, support and consultant to school directors, principals, and assistant principals.
  2. Serve as a resource, support and consultant to parents/guardians of all students.
  3. Serve as an evaluator of staff and/or work closely with building administrators to supervise staff.
  4. Establish, organize, and deliver professional development/training.
  5. Deliver professional development training during the school day as well as in the evening.
  6. Provide leadership in development and monitoring of department programs.
  7. Monitor programs as it relates to compliance and policy.
  8. Develop/maintain effective school/community/parent relationships.
  9. Supervise and/or assist in hiring and placement of staff.
  10. Work collaboratively as a team member in the department.
  11. Identify program needs, create solutions, and implement solutions.
  12. Attend a variety of meetings, conferences, and seminars to maintain current knowledge and expertise of educational research, trends, and issues.
  13. Assist in maintaining adequate records for audit purposes and contribute to budget/expenditure discussions.
  14. Be available for additional work assignments outside of school day or school year.
  15. Facilitate the use of data to drive instruction and decisions.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Valid Washington State teaching certificate or ESA certification. Master's degree in education and a Special Education endorsement preferred. Administrative/Principal credential required or working towards obtaining.
  2. A minimum of five (5) years successful certificated K-12 educational experience.
  3. Knowledge of current educational trends, research, and professional development strategies.
  4. Demonstrated leadership in collaborating with student and families to provide appropriate supports and interventions.
  5. Demonstrated leadership in education. Ability to assist teachers and administrators in the development of behavior intervention and support. Exhibit high personal motivation/energy and be positive about responsibilities.
  6. Clearly communicate (orally and written) using language that is appropriate to the person or group. Reach logical conclusions and make high quality decisions using appropriate decision-making processes and take action and accept responsibility for actions and consequences.
  7. Motivate others and design activities to assist others in meeting organizational goals.
  8. Set high performance standards for self and others; be receptive to new ideas and change; and be committed to personal/professional improvement.
  9. Experience using/implementing/supporting restorative practices.
  10. Relates positively to youth and adults of varying socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic backgrounds, different learning styles, and various disabilities.
  11. Knowledge of state and federal laws, district policies and procedures related to student rights and responsibilities, student records, compulsory attendance, 504 and Title II, ELD and Special Education.
  12. Required use of personal vehicle.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Current terms of employment include: Contracted for 210-day work year. Current salary schedule range is from $80,268 - $93,053 depending upon experience and earned degrees. Additional stipend of $1,461 for Masters degree or $3,000 for Doctorate degree. Other pay opportunities also available, as negotiated.

Fringe benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage. Other terms of employment and compensation improvements for the current employment year are subject to policies, procedures, and actions taken by the board of directors of Spokane Public Schools.
