Title: Manager-In-Training(MIT), School Nutrition

Job Summary:

Completes all necessary training to improve upon previously learned skills and develop new skills in preparation for independently and successfully managing the School Nutrition Program in compliance with all federal, state, local and FCBOE policies and procedures once promoted to a Food Service Manager position

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with customers, staff and administrators and to work with them in a tactful, considerate, and cooperative mannerFollow instructions both verbal and writtenImplements and adheres to Classified Employee Work Rules and School Nutrition Personnel and Uniform Standards, including advanced reporting of absences to Supervisor, School Nutrition Training, Area Supervisor and Principal of school where they are trainingMaintains high sanitary conditions in cafeteria area via the implementation of all HACCP procedures including employee cleanliness and food handling, receiving, storage, and preparation and coolingImproves job related skills and take pride in serving all studentsCompletes all required manager training including but not limited to monthly Managers' Meetings, MIT classes, Training-in-Depth courses, 12 hours In-Service annually, and 30-hour Orientation for Nutrition EmployeesMaintains current ServSafe certificationCreates an atmosphere in the cafeteria, which results in high percentage of student and adult participationSupports activities that complement the total educational process of the schoolPromotes the School Nutrition Program and fosters good public relations Performs as the acting manager in the absence of the SNP manager Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Education and Experience:
Education
  • High School diploma or GED required; College Degree preferred

Experience:
  • Minimum of at least 1 year of food service work requiredMinimum of at least 1 year of management experience required, preferably in food serviceSchool nutrition food service management experience preferred

Certification/Licensure:
  • ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification through National Restaurant Association required

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions both verbal and writtenManual dexterity necessaryAbility to learn and adapt quicklyGood communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to effectively manage timeModerately proficient in computer skillsAbility to travel throughout the DistrictKnowledge of basic foodservice concepts, school nutrition foodservice concepts preferred

Step placement credit may be granted for up to a maximum of 8 years (Step 9) of prior verifiable experience. Salary placement with Fulton County Schools is non-negotiable. Actual salary placement will be based on Fulton County Board of Education experience calculations from the 183- Day School Nutrition Program Schedule, Salary Scale D 8 hours Step 1 - Step 9.
