Title: Director, Strategy Management

Position Summary:
The Director of Strategy Management is responsible for driving the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of Fulton County Schools' strategic plan. The incumbent provides guidance and direction to team members responsible for strategic planning, project management, change management, monitoring of continuous improvement metrics, and problem solving.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports District-wide strategic planningEnsures that the District has a clear strategic plan and that plan is the driver of work across the DistrictEnsures that the plan is driven by clear outcomes and associated targetsEnsures that each strategic plan initiative has a clear implementation plan that can be monitoredFacilitates annual planning retreats for Senior Leadership to review and update plansDesigns and delivers customized training opportunities for staff at various levels to build their skills in strategic planning and monitoringActs as the District's authority relating to strategic planning and continuous improvementPromotes awareness of the strategic plan throughout FCSManages the overall timeline of strategic planning and reportingBuilds capacity of others to manage projects through training and consultationCollaborates with Budget team to ensure appropriate resources are allocated so that strategic plan initiatives and projects are completed within committed time, scope and budgetCollaborates with Communications team to promote awareness of the strategic plan throughout FCSMonitors and reports on strategic plan progressEnsures that all strategic plan initiatives and projects are proceeding according to timelines, meeting targets and expectations, and adhering to established operating parametersWorks with initiative owners and project managers to track progress of milestones and objectives across all major initiativesPrepares and facilitates/delivers regular reports to Senior Leadership and Board of Education on the progress of initiatives and outcomes in the strategic planProvides targeted problem-solving support to achieve strategic plan goalsSupports senior leadership in problem analysis, problem solving, and process improvement as challenges arise in the implementation of the strategic planAssists teams and cross-functional working groups in making decisions and solving problems using facilitative techniques and problem-solving toolsKeeps pace with advances in strategic planning and project management in all areas of education and takes advantage of those to increase the Districts' effectivenessDevelops and maintains relationships with senior leadership and project team membersPerforms other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

Education and Experience:
Education:


  • Bachelor's Degree - RequiredMaster's Degree in Business Administration, Education, Public Administration/Policy or related field preferred


Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years administration/supervisory experience and 6 additional years of project management or related experience required

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with project management methodologiesExperience facilitating the development of strategic plans, project plans, project schedules, and associated project materialsStrong analytical skillsAbility to relate to a wide variety of people and to observe, listen, motivate, and provide leadership which results in the best environmentAbility to apply critical thinking skills in identifying solutions to various issuesAbility to manage financial, material, and human resources effectivelyProven ability to make recommendations on various topics, detailed, controversial, simple, or complexAbility to develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate program goals and initiativesStrong organizational and time management skillsMust be able to collaborate effectively with district and school personnel, the general public, and work with diverse groups of peopleExcellent communication skills, both written and verbalProficient in Microsoft Office


Certification/Licensure:

  • PMP preferred

Salary Information:
Salary Range for 2018-2019


  • $78,619 - $92,785


Step placement credit may be granted for up to a maximum of 8 years (Step 9) of prior verifiable experience. Salary placement with Fulton County Schools is non-negotiable. Actual salary placement will be based on Fulton County Board of Education experience calculations from the Non-Teaching Salary Schedule B-235, Executive Scale, Step 1 - Step 9.
