Summary:

To provide English Learners high quality language instruction for the purposes of acquiring the English language.

Job Responsibilities:

• Deliver high quality instruction in both push-in and pull-out settings
• Administer required language proficiency and academic achievement tests
• Assist in scaffolding and adapting curriculum to meet the needs of English Learners
• Participate in professional learning communities to share student data and assist in the development of appropriate support and strategies to meet the needs of English Learners
• Participate in school and community functions
• Develop and maintain a positive classroom environment
• Record and maintain accurate data records for English Learners
• Reinforce the integration of appropriate scaffolds and strategies in the general education classroom
• Provide feedback to teachers regarding instruction focused on increasing language proficiency
• Work collaboratively with school teams to identify English Learners that may need additional supports and interventions
• Promote ongoing communication with families and staff regarding student progress
• Monitor progress of students that are in the monitoring window or parent waivers
• Maintain compliance and confidentiality regarding English Learners

Job Qualifications:

• Delaware or Out-of-State Teaching License
• Elementary/Secondary Teaching Certification
• English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) or Bilingual Certification
