   License and Certification Qualifications: None required.

Education Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.

Experience Qualifications: Five years experience in a routing related field required. Experience in a supervisory role preferred.

Skills Qualifications: Knowledge of transportation practices and processes; knowledge and proficiency in routing software; strong computer application skills; ability to maintain records with a high degree of accuracy; strong interpersonal and human relations skills; ability to read and interpret documents such as manuals; ability to write routine correspondence; ability to speak effectively in one-on-one communications with employees; knowledge of standard and non-standard routing processes regarding all types of students; ability to understand all applicable state and federal laws and regulations regarding the routing of regular education, special education, and specialty type students; and ability to act as a representative of Gwinnett County Public Schools.

Primary Responsibilities: Responsible for the operations of all routing functions within the Transportation Department, including Geographic Information System (GIS) computerized route development, database maintenance, student information, and map synchronization.

1. Coordinate with the transportation management team to implement all transportation routing policies and procedures.
a. Act as the subject matter expert concerning the current computerized routing package and web product.
b. Act as the subject matter expert concerning all routing of students and accuracy of GCPS system's map.
c. Design and implement transportation related forms and procedures to improve efficiency of information flow.

2. Manage and identify safe stops for the Transportation Department.
a. Manage all school bus stops in the district.
b. Review the status of sex offenders and ensure they are not located at any bus stop, and that a student is not required to walk past a sex offender's house.
c. Ensure that all stops have been identified as a safe stop on an annual basis and have documentation for each stop recorded for reference as needed.

3. Comply with state and federal student transportation laws and submit required reports.
a. Ensure compliance with Aleana's Law and assist with the Railroad Crossing Report.
b. Provide information to the Transportation Analyst for the state Superintendent Transportation Bus Survey Report.

4. Manage the map for the Transportation Department.
a. Ensure all routes are accurate with critical safety information applied to the map, such as speed, rail road crossings, bridge weight capacity, medians, right and left turn only roads, no cross, and no walk areas.
b. Collaborate with supervisors, police officers, Department of Transportation, and other organizations to ensure the accuracy of the map.
c. Synchronize accuracy of the GCPS map with the Planning Department by providing information as needed.
d. Manage the yearly computerized routing process which involves managing the process to incorporate new schools, new school boundaries, new roads, new subdivisions, and new students.

5. Perform database maintenance for the Department of Transportation.
a. Coordinate with the Planning Department and the Information Management and Technology Division concerning the implementation and testing of newer versions of software and patches to the software.
b. Minimize the impact to other departments down time while updating the database.
c. Analyze data from the database to ensure accuracy.
d. Ensure the nightly update from Synergy is accurate.

6. Interact with the current software vendor, Information Management and Technology Division, and Tech Advisor to troubleshoot and resolve system problems.
a. Coordinate with the Information Management and Technology Division and vendor to define, test, and implement system upgrades.
b. Troubleshoot and resolve system problems.
c. Report errors and problems occurring with the software.
d. Provide list of enhancements to customize the use of the software to the specific needs of the department and support groups.
e. Identify and report issues to the Information Management and Technology Division and/or software vendor and help develop a solution until the issues are resolved.

7. Identify new software to meet district requirements.
a. Identify inefficiencies/areas of improvement in current business processes.
b. Work with potential vendors to provide insight to understand existing gaps in the current routing system.
c. Consult with other school districts to discuss potential use of various software.

8. Perform cost cutting detail studies using routing software.
a. Research and study data to accurately define feasibility of implementing new procedures and policies to maximize possible savings.
b. Make recommendations to management based on study results.

9. Determine resolutions for customer service concerns.
a. Analyze web issues, school issues, routing and map issues, and parent/guardian concerns to determine proper solutions.

10. Design and implement procedures to improve efficiency of information flow and work efficiency.
a. Incorporate new technology from other departments.
b. Develop processes and procedures to ensure data is accurate and timely.

11. Act as the Routing Web Database Administrator for the Transportation Department.
a. Ensure the routing website is available to all local schools and transportation offices on a daily basis.
b. Provide training and handouts to local schools and transportation personnel as needed.
c. Provide user name and password to district employees as requested by the principal of each school and/or department.
d. Define and develop system enhancements.

12. Perform other duties as assigned.
