Certified Teacher for the 2018-2019 School Year
Full Time
Position is responsible for teaching students in a self-contained classroom.

TRAINING
Teacher Certification in subject area required.
Special Education certification preferred, but not required.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIS ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
?h Develops and implements an instructional plan which is compatible with the school and statewide
curricular goals and the students' Individual Education Program.
?h Provides direct special education instruction to identified students.
?h Employs a variety of teaching methods to meet student needs. Implementation of these
methods may require the adaptation or development of materials.
?h Monitors student behavior; maintains discipline in the classroom; deescalates inappropriate
behaviors; teaches students appropriate behavioral strategies; restrains students when
necessary; records and reports restrains.
?h Communicates with parents regarding their children's educational progress via periodic written
and verbal progress reports.
?h Acts as a case coordinator for assigned students; consults with community caregivers, school
support professionals, and parents to better understand and meet student needs.
?h Treats all students in a fair and equitable manner, interacts effectively with students, coworkers,
parents, and community.
?h Performs other related work as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
?h Ability to constantly monitor the safety and well-being of students, particularly when student is
participating in an inclusive activity.
?h Ability to motivate students.
?h Ability to maintain a clean and orderly environment.
?h Ability to perform general clerical duties.
?h Ability to maintain order and discipline in a classroom.
?h Ability to maintain basic files and records.
?h Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
?h Ability to think with a growth mindest, and ability to work, and teach interdisciplinary content.
