JOB TITLE : Resource Teacher, Mathematics - Secondary - Jefferson Bldg.

REPORTS TO : Director of Mathematics, PreK-12

DEFINITION : Provides support in the design, development, and modeling of effective implementation of the secondary Mathematics curriculum/programs to include intervention programs (i.e. Accelerated Mathematics Achievement (AMA) program) for Grades 6 to 12 that aligns with the Maryland College and Career Readiness Standards and builds upon the foundation of the BCPS Teaching and Learning framework. Ensures that all initiatives support the system-wide goals identified in the Blueprint 2.0.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES :
Assists in the implementation of the Baltimore County Teaching and Learning framework by supporting quality first instruction through use of culturally responsive and data driven practices in mathematics at the secondary level.

Ensures implementation fidelity of the secondary mathematics curriculum/programs and assessments.

Works collaboratively with school based leadership, teacher teams and STAT teachers to co-plan, co-teach and model customized lessons based on formative assessment data.

Assists in the development of BCPS mathematics curriculum/programs at the secondary level while ensuring the infusion of teaching and learning strategies that promote rigor, relevance, responsiveness, and access for all students based on the direction from the Chief Academic Officer.

Models lessons demonstrating research-based instructional strategies and best practices aligned to College and Career Ready Standards for Mathematics and delivered in a blended learner centered environment.

Provides support to schools and offices on the selection and recommendation of programs and initiatives that support effective mathematics instruction and increasing student achievement based on BCPS' Mathematics Plan and each school's collected data and School Progress Plan.

Provides support for teacher leaders in guiding professional learning communities (i.e. grade/course level teams, AMA fellows) focused on mathematics instruction and increasing student achievement.

Provides specific, targeted classroom support to schools based on School Progress Plans and direction from appropriate personnel from the Divisions of Curriculum and Instruction and Schools. Assists identified priority schools as needed in the area of mathematics.

Supports the development, implementation and monitoring of School Progress Plans and assists schools and offices with analyzing and responding to mathematics performance data which may include helping individuals supporting programs (i.e. AMA Fellows) make instructional decisions that personalize and customize learning.

Communicates regularly with department chairs and the director on the progress of the school's mathematics department and any programs (i.e. AMA).

Provides dedicated mathematics professional development and support in mathematics teaching methodologies to mathematics teachers and individuals assigned to support programs (i.e. AMA).

Provides professional development to BCPS stakeholders on a broad range of topics related to Mathematics, the Maryland College and Career Readiness Standards, and related assessments such as Advanced Placement exams, the SAT, and PARCC including the integration of digital resources with all curriculum content.

Provides regionalized professional development and support to classroom teachers based upon school performance data which may include the training of program fellows at identified school sites throughout the year.

Performs related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Education, Training and Experience :
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in a field related to the assignment, plus three years of successful teaching experience in the area of secondary mathematics; highly qualified status in secondary mathematics.

Master's degree preferred. Experience in curriculum development and revision; planning and implementing professional development; school progress planning and implementation; co-teaching and modeling of instruction with teachers; experience with data analysis and data-driven decision making preferred.

Licenses and Certificates :
Possession of, or eligibility for, a Maryland Professional Certificate is required.
Possession of, or eligibility for, a Maryland Advanced Professional Certificate is preferred .

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Strong elementary/ middle school mathematics content. Knowledge of effective instructional practices in elementary/ middle mathematics; demonstration of strong communication and human relations skills; demonstration of effective organization and communication skills; demonstration of strong computer/technology skills.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS :
The work of this class is generally sedentary and performed in an office environment. Work includes the operation of office equipment, including personal computers, and occasional limited physical activities.

  • All persons employed by the Baltimore County Public Schools, regular and temporary, are required to be fingerprinted and have a criminal background investigation (State of Maryland, Senate Bill 315, effective October 1, 1986) completed. The fee charged for fingerprinting is $79.75 An identification card will be issued which must be shown prior to employment.
  • Anyone offered employment is required to provide proper identification and documentation of eligibility for employment in the US.
  • If you have military experience you will be asked to provide a copy of DD214.
  • Official transcripts for all higher education must be received prior to contract signing.
  • Some positions will require employees to undergo a physical examination and/or drug testing.
  • All newly hired personnel must attend a Benefits session.
  • Additional job verification will be required for salary credit.
