Brief Description:
This is a Technology services position that will work performing telecommunication voice services tasks.

Detailed Description:
An employee in this class is responsible for processing, programming, and completing LCPS telecom system software and hardware changes associated with work orders and trouble requests. The specialist will work independently to oversee all aspects of the voice telecommunications process including coordination of work orders to be performed by voice telecommunications technicians.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Arranges new line installations/terminations including ordering voice trunks, circuits and updating custom redirects
* Configures auto attendant applications and voicemail, updates enterprise call routing and manages dial plan
* Plans lines and orders equipment for new schools including those for emergency management, fire and security, elevators, etc.
* Responsible for handling daily voice telecommunications issues, reporting issues and following through until repairs are complete. Completes system programming, configuration and installations as needed for work orders and projects. Provides programming and repair escalation assistance for voice telecommunications technicians.
* Tracks emergencies that impact the operations of voice telecommunications equipment including notification to appropriate departments, arrangement for issuance of temporary equipment, and providing status reports to immediate supervisor.
* Works with Accounting Department for billing questions and record keeping.
* Maintains site records of equipment.
* Performs related work as required.

Job Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate's degree and experience with telecom hardware, software, and voice services Technology with additional training or certification in voice telecommunications or related field and experience in performing varied telecommunications duties; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:
* Experience with Nortel CS1000, Option 11C, Avaya System Manager, Session Manager and IP Office systems is preferred
* Experience with both digital and VoIP sets, SIP trunks and calling accounting software
* Extensive direct Telecommunications work with enterprise level voice services and applications
* Ability to diagnose complex problems and provide solutions
* Analyze and process data and operations in terms of management controls, systems, and procedures.
* Possesses independent initiative, critical thinking skills, and the ability to determine work priorities and make recommendations consistent with established practices.
* Working knowledge of the general organization and functions of a public school system.
* Excellent customer service, organization and communication skills.
