Qualifications:
  • All applicants must possess or be eligible to possess a Delaware teaching license and/or school reading specialist certification.
  • Certification in English Language Arts Teacher, Social Studies Teacher, and/or Elementary Teacher preferred.
  • School Reading Specialist certification preferred.
  • Three years successful teaching experience preferred.

Performance Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a leader within the Milford School District Student Learning Team and Curriculum Task Force.
  • Lead Milford School District teachers in standards-based curriculum development and enhancements.
  • Coordinate school language arts and reading programs both horizontally and vertically.
  • Lead and support curriculum development, instructional strategies and assessment for ELA, Reading and Social Studies in grades PreK-12.
  • Support the engagement of families and community in literacy based activities.
  • Plan, design and implement professional development for PreK-12 teachers. Provide professional development through Curriculum Task Force, workshops, Professional Learning Communities, grade level/departmental meetings and individual meetings.
  • Serve as district liaison at state-wide curriculum and instruction meetings relative to ELA, Reading and Social Studies.
  • Support the implementation of district-wide assessment online platform.
  • Provide support to teachers in using diagnostic and standards-based assessments to design instruction to meet all students' needs.
  • Collect and analyze student data to determine specific curriculum and instruction needs.
  • Evaluate student academic growth, maintain appropriate student records, and prepare progress reports.
  • Establish and maintain good rapport and ongoing communication with all district stakeholders.
  • Willingness to work with the Student Learning Team during summer months on curriculum improvements. (Summer reported hours compensated)
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment: Salary and work year to be according to the current salary schedule and the Professional Agreement. Ten-month (10) position.

Salary and Benefits: Salary range and benefits are commensurate with qualifications and experience in accordance with Board of Education Policy.

Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board's policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
