Other Information:

High Tech Early College (HTEC) is a 9-12 traditional high school and a state accredited Early College, under Innovation Status in the Far Northeast area of Denver. Students attend HTEC for two main reasons: They have a passion in one of our six CareerConnect Pathways of Business, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Engineering, Robotics, and Audio Technology AND they see college as a non-negotiable for their future and want to earn as much college credit as possible while working to obtain their high school diploma. As an Early College, students can even earn their Associate Degree while a student in high school through our partnership with the Community College of Aurora. At HTEC, we are proud to have 10 adjunct professors on our campus providing college-level courses to our high school students. We are also proud of the growth that we have achieved in just two years. In the 2015-2016 school year, HTEC students earned 454 college credits and had only a 73% success rate. Under the leadership of a new principal in 2016-2017, last school year students earned 1,163 credits with a pass rate of 90%. This year, 60% of our student population is enrolled in one or more college classes with the potential to earn well over 2,500 college credits this school year alone.

To work at HTEC, teachers must have an attitude to relentlessly work to not only obliterate the opportunity gap, but to ensure that every child seated in a classroom achieves at high levels no matter what the narrative is that society places upon them. As a members of the Wolf Pack, we are working to redefine how we deliver a quality, public education and are only recruiting teachers to our campus who come with a record of success in serving students of color, who value diversity and are unafraid to have conversations about race and implicit bias in education, and who will commit to serving our students each and every day.

T eachers interested in applying to a position at High Tech Early College should prepare a resume celebrating their accomplishments in impacting positive student achievement and a cover letter that answers the following questions:

• Why do you want to be a teacher at High Tech Early College?

• What has been your record of student achievement? (please give measurable outcomes)

• What is your experience working with diverse student populations? (including but not limited to race, ethnicity, socio-economic)

• What is your experience teaching second language learners?

Teachers who advance forward in the screening process should anticipate submitting a written response to a prompt, as well as sending the building principal and personnel committee a lesson plan for review.

Teachers who then advance forward from the second hiring phase should anticipate a school tour, teaching demonstration, and a panel interview with students and our personnel committee.

Please email your cover letter and resume to Stacy_parrish@dpsk12.org
