Position Overview: EAGLE College Prep Tower Grove South is seeking several Elementary Teaching Assistants to join our team during the 18-19 school year. Our TAs come from diverse backgrounds and enable us to enrich our schools by providing two caring adults in every classroom. This allows us to make even greater academic and social gains with our scholars.

The Teaching Assistant position is designed to be a one-year commitment during which time TAs work alongside experienced Lead Teachers to develop their teaching skills. The role is used as a talent-development program for our schools. After successfully fulfilling their commitment, Teaching Assistants are often encouraged to apply for Lead Teaching positions if that is their desire.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Considering the needs of each child when planning and modifying lessons.
  • Balancing a pre- designed, codified set of content-based standards with students' individual needs and learning styles.
  • Supporting their Lead Teacher in achieving the highest outcomes for students and actively engaging in the planning process.
  • Engaging in coaching cycles and implementing research-based strategies that maximize their own performance and that of their students.
  • Reflecting on their own progress as educators and seeking out professional resources to continuously improve their practice.
  • Providing students with frequent feedback and evaluation based on the development of individualized goals for performance that are specific, measurable, ambitious, rooted in data and time-bound.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to leverage the strength of all team members.
  • Fulfilling duties as assigned to uphold school culture, such as lunch duty and dismissal.
  • Helping to maintain records of students' progress.
  • Supporting the school as directed by the Principal.
  • Contributing to a warm, positive, and supportive school climate.

  • Demonstrated success working with elementary or pre-school students preferred
  • Demonstrated success working in a high-performing, urban school setting is a plus
  • Exceptional organization and planning skills
  • Superior communication skills
  • An ability to work collaboratively and maintain a positive attitude
  • Able to show unconditional love to students with a variety of social, emotional, and academic needs

Anticipated Start Date: Summer 2018

Salary and Benefits: This is an hourly position, this poisition does not feature benefits but does have access to Retirement planning along with world class professional development.
