  • GENERAL FUNCTIONS:
    Under the Director of Risk Management, the Custodial Supervisor responsibilities are to supervise the District's custodial crews and to review daily custodial operations at all District Buildings for compliance with district, state, and federal requirements.
    • Conducts on-site reviews of custodial operations to provide information and recommendations to the Director of Buildings & Grounds and campus level administrators on services and staffing by providing appropriate guidance and technical direction.
    • Supervises custodial personnel assigned throughout the District; assigns, reviews, and monitors work; trains, coaches, and corrects staff as needed; evaluates performance and recommends disciplinary action if necessary; serves as liaison between staff and administration regarding personnel issues; performs additional duties as assigned by Director of Buildings & Grounds.
    • Assists Director of Buildings & Grounds to ensure proper staffing of school and department custodial operations, including assisting departmental clerk in assigning substitutes.
    • Recommends the scheduling, assignment, and transfer of personnel.
    • Assists Director and departmental supervisors with interviewing of custodial candidates.
    • Provides custodial services in emergency situations; plans and coordinates special services and operations; prepares daily reports and processes accident reports if needed. Keeps accurate records and provides reports as requested.
    • Provides training and guidance to staff in techniques and use of products. Instructs custodial staff in the proper and most efficient use of material and equipment.
    • Administers custodial orientation and training; evaluates performance, maintains records and ensures job training requirements are being met.
    • Works with Director of Buildings & Grounds and building principals in providing assistance to custodians with performance problems.

    OTHER FUNCTIONS:
    • Demonstrates the proper use of a variety of custodial equipment.
    • Provides input for time-work studies. Performs building inspections and site visitations.
    • Assists and coordinates custodial response/operations during snow, wind, cold temperatures and other emergency situations.
    • May participates in bargaining unit negotiations.
    • Serves as a member of the Operations Team of the district; performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.

    MENTAL DEMANDS:
    • Required to meet externally imposed and inflexible deadlines

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    Felxible work schedule will be required. Required to be accessible during off-hours and to return to work for emergencies; required to travel to various sites and locations. May be exposed to danger to physical safety from equipment; required to wear protective equipment as needed.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    • High school graduation or equivalent, and five years of paid, verifiable, supervisory level experience, of which two years must have been in an operations leadership role.
    • College degree preferred.
    • Allowable Substitutions: Alternative combinations of education, training, and experience will be evaluated for comparability.

    • Knowledge of asbestos regulations, plans and inspection requirements

    • Ability to work independently and make effective decisions

    • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with a variety of others, including contractors, district staff and administrators, vendors, and community
    • Skill in work inspection and monitoring
    • Perform all duties in accordance with applicable Board policies and district and legal requirements;
    • Meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations
    Licenses/Special Requirements
    • Required to possess or obtain within one year of hire a valid fork lift operators permit; must possess a valid state driver's license.
