ELEMENTARY-MIDDLE-HIGH SCHOOL CLASSROOM TEACHER

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Under the general supervision of an administrator, a classroom teacher will implement school board policy regarding the educational curriculum of a particular instructional division and/or instructional unit. The teacher may teach one or more subjects.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

Education/Experience : Any combination of education and experience in teaching would provide the required knowledge and skills are qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and skills would be:

Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with student teaching experience

and/or

Experience: Three (3) years of verified contracted teaching experience with a Bachelor's Degree and the ability to obtain a valid teaching license in Nevada

Knowledge of : Child development; behavior and characteristics of students; subject area and/or credential area of teaching. (e.g. special education, math, science, etc.); effective teaching skills; planning and organizing; supervision and control; assessment and diagnosis; interpersonal relations.

Skill at : Creating an effective environment for learning, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with teachers, administrators, counselors, and other staff members. The ability to establish and maintain standard of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. Effective utilization of technology in instruction, planning, data-based decision making and monitoring of student achievement.

License/Certificates : Possession of, or the ability to obtain a valid Nevada teaching license in the relevant subject area/and or grade level.

Special Considerations : When selected for Department chair of a high school, additional pay will be provided based on number of teachers supervised.

INCENTIVES

Based on legislative designated funds under AB434, NDE has approved an incentive for up to $5,000 for classroom teachers to transfer from a non-Title I school into a Title I school for the 2018-19 school year.

Current eligibility criteria:
  • Must be a classroom teacher
  • Must be post-probationary
  • Must be fully-licensed for the grade/subject area that the teacher is teaching
  • Must have received a Highly Effective or Effective evaluation for 2017-18, 2016-17, 2015-16

Because a teacher has to be fully-licensed for the grade/subject area that s/he is teaching, a teacher is not eligible if s/he is:
  • Teaching out-of-field
  • Is in the SPED options program
  • Is in the GT options program
  • Is in the EL options program
  • Is teaching with an ARL license

Innovations High School is a very unique model of education. There is a strong advisory and internship structure that all certified employees/teachers are required to support. The Computer Science Certified Position will involve facilitating the learning through technology in all content areas through cross-curricular collaboration, supporting the upkeep and maintenance of the school's technology, and also supporting the technological aspects of the school's Recording Arts/Music Engineering/Videography program. Innovation's technology consists of primarily Apple products, therefore a strong knowledge of Apple products and the support system associated with Apple is a requirement:
