Job Summary
The 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program Aide assists with operation of the 21st CCLC site. Aides will help facilitate snack distribution and clean up, take attendance, monitor halls and bathrooms, help with academic and enrichment activities, help with activity/special event preparation, and dismissal. 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program Aides will provide assistance to students as necessary while working under adult supervision.

Note: This position vacancy announcement is open on a year around basis for recruitment and does not indicate a specific vacancy. Supervisors will review and consider applications as vacancies become available.

Job Requirements
The following are required:
  1. Basic skills in reading, writing, and math.Must have basic computer skills including locating Internet sites, word processing, and printing.Desire to motivate youth and gain skills in an educational setting.

The following are preferred:
  1. High school student preferred, with a minimum age of 16 years old.Experience working with youth.Experience as a tutor or mentor.Experience working with children in an organized setting in a job capacity or as a volunteer.Experience with English language learners.Demonstrated leadership skills and organizational ability.Ability to solve problems, handle conflicts, and make effective decisions under pressure.Ability to assist with snack distribution and handled transition periods.Ability to take direction and follow through on tasks independently.Ability to be trained in procedures and program routines critical.Ability to collaborate and work cooperatively with colleagues and staff.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Assists coordinator and staff with the 21st CCLC program as directed.Works with individuals or small groups during academic enrichment activity under the supervision of the teacher/staff.Assists students in Kindergarten through 8th grade with take-home work.Assists with assemblies and special events set up.Serves as a positive role model for the youth at the 21st CCLC.Prepares, organizes, and helps supervise snack time.Sets up and cleans up snack time.Assists with attendance, dismissal procedures, and busing transition.Performs general office duties such as phone calls, copying, etc.Attends scheduled training sessions and staff meetings.Supports ASD's position of valuing diversity, promoting respect, and maintaining standards of confidentiality.

Physical/Mental Demands
The physical demands of this job require frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking, and hearing. Specific visual abilities are also required. The employee is regularly required to reach with his/her hands and arms and occasionally lift items weighing less than 40 lbs. Additionally, the employee must be able to communicate by oral and written means in an appropriate business manner and have cognitive skills to understand instructions, readily recall facts and details, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure. The employee must have the ability to effectively manage the stress of working with students, parents, and other employees representing diverse cultures, personalities, and work styles in a dynamic work environment.

Work is performed in a professional environment with a wide variety of individuals having differing functions, personalities and abilities, including working with diverse groups of people in a variety of different settings.

While performing the duties of this job the employee may be regularly exposed to a video display. The employee may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
