Title of Position: Education Associate, Title II & Educator Development

Reports to: Director, Educator Effectivenss

Description of Position:

This Education Associate role within the Educator Support Team is designed to attract talented, results-driven, self-motivated leaders who are seeking to accelerate Delaware's educational improvement efforts. The Educator Support Team is seeking a new team member to develop and deliver a robust strategy to provide supports to schools and districts to implement educator development strategies and systems that will result in a high-quality education for all of Delaware's students, in particular this includes being the program manager for Title II funds and processes. The role would develop and deliver on strategies that align implementation efforts and resources towards aligning professional learning and educator evaluation. Additionally, the Education Associate, Title II & Educator Development will work closely with other members of the team to strengthen the educator pipeline and engage in educator equity initiatives.

The Education Associate, Title II & Educator Development will lead and manage the grant process and utilization of Title II funds to support educator development and stronger state support systems at the state and local level. Strong candidates for this position should have experience in project management as well as influencing and collaborating with building leaders, district leaders, and other key system stakeholders.

Major Responsibilities Include:
  • Manage Title II A funds and grant process to support the preparation, training, and recruitment of high quality teachers and school leaders across all Local Education Agencies (LEA's).
  • Develop and implement guidance and technical assistance regarding the use of Title II funds across Local Education Agencies (LEA's).
  • Develop and implement guidance and technical assistance documents on the use of evidence-based practices.
  • Support education evaluation, development and support systems in order to align ongoing professional learning.
  • Engage with districts who have large educator equity gaps to support strategies to help address these gaps, such as but not limited to: development of educator preparation pipelines, professional learning, recruitment strategies, etc.
  • Partner with national and local organizations to develop educator support systems.
  • Partner with other teams across the Department of Education to support high-need schools such as the Student Support Team and the Office of Innovation and Improvement.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

Education: Bachelor's Degree Required; Master's degree in Education and/or Education Policy preferred

Experience:

  • At least five years of progressive career experience, preferably in education
  • Experience developing and implementing educator effectiveness strategies such as educator evaluation and support systems, educator development programs, and/or experience in developing statewide or district education policy
  • Project management or grant management experience
  • Data analysis experience preferred

Skills:
  • Superior project management skills, including demonstrated ability to problem solve effectively and efficiently, and to resolve organizational roadblocks
  • Results-oriented, with demonstrated ability to self-motivate and to work independently
  • Strategic, analytic, and legal thinking and writing ability
  • Team orientation and willingness to contribute at all levels to ensure successful implementation across many work efforts within a team and organization

Salary:

Salary will be computed in accordance with the education, experience, and training of the individual selected and in accordance with salary schedules for employees of the Department of Education. Direct deposit of payroll checks is a condition of state employment, and employees are paid on a lag pay schedule with the first payment made after approximately one month of employment.
