Machine Operations, CTE Teacher

Under the direction of the school principal and Career and Technical Education director, the teacher in this position will instruct the students in the Career & Technical Education Machine Operations program. Instruction in this program will prepare students to apply technical knowledge and skills in all aspects of shaping metal parts.

In addition, the instructor will prepare students to obtain certification in the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).

Salary:
Salary Schedule For Teachers Hired On Or After July 1, 2010 (starting at $46, 920 per year)

Qualifications:
- Possess or be eligible to obtain a Pennsylvania Vocational Education Teaching Certificate with Machine Shop 2043 Certification.

- Five (5) years of recent (within the last (7) years) trade based or equivalent full-time employment directly related to Machine Operations is preferred (teaching experience in this area is acceptable), but a minimum of two years wage-earning experience in addition to the learning period in Machine Practice is mandated. Experience with CNC/ advanced machining and NIMS certifications is preferred.

- Exhibit excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills and the ability to work with demanding timelines and produce quality products.

- Ability to maintain a good working relationship with other staff.

- Demonstrate proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Office applications, e-mail, Web applications, and industry-specific technology.

5. Prepare lesson plans that encourage and foster proficient oral and written expression, critical thinking and applications.

6. Provide rigorous and relevant instruction on approved hands-on curriculum in the content area and workplace readiness.

7. Understand and apply effective strategies and best practices to ensure student success.

8. Administer a variety of student assessment tools.

9. Take all necessary safety precautions to protect students, equipment, material, and facilities.

10. Maintain accurate and complete records as required by district guidelines and state laws.

11. Train students to successfully pass a variety of industrial certifications.

12. Support student participation in Career and Technical Student Organizations.

13. Maintain and update required industry certifications.

14. Participate in district and school-based professional development activities and staff meetings.

15. Develop and maintain positive and cooperative interactions and communications with parents, colleagues and community.

16. Collaborate with core content teachers on common instructional objectives, integration and alignment of academic standards.

17. Involvement in professional organizations and community relations preferred.

18. Assist the administration in implementing all polices and rules governing student life and conduct.

19. Manage classroom behavior.

20. Participate in Occupational Advisory Committee meetings for the program.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position is primarily sedentary in nature. Employee will be required to operate computer system for data entry, and have the ability to complete necessary paperwork. This position requires minimum physical effort and not subjected to Occupational Health and Safety risks.
